Over the three days you will be introduced to the ancient art of carving. You will be given the opportunity to work with a variety of materials: Oamaru stone, Wood, Bone, and Pounamu and hopefully produce a number of carved pieces. You will be taught the basic skills, but the creativity will flow from you. For one day you will work under the guidance of the master carver Gavin Thompson from Murihiku Pounamu and make your own Toki.
In the weeks before hand we will need to plan out your carving designs and briefly go over techniques and types of carvings.
