Join the fun this holiday season by taking part in the third annual Invercargill City Council Gingerbread House Competition. It’s your opportunity to create a house that will get the whole town talking!
Date for the entries has not been set but it is earlier on in December. All houses will be on display in the Cambridge Arcade. Entry is $10 (or three cans of food) and all proceeds will be given to the local food bank in Invercargill.
Holidays are the time when almost everyone turns to classic traditions for decorating ideas and inspiration. Any structure is allowed in this category. Victorian, colonial, modern, house, barn, cottage – you decide.
Reproduction of a significant Invercargill building
How much icing would it take to build the Water Tower Building, Tay Street or the Basilica? This is the ultimate
test of realism in the art of building with gingerbread! Any well-known building will do. Your display must include
a picture of the real thing.
We will have our own Menzies judging and enter the best two into the Invercargill competition.
Planning designing your Ginger bread house what decorations you might need as we will need all supplies
at school ready to go.
We will discuss other ideas such as creating gifts for Christmas, baking, preserving etc
Mrs Keil, Mrs Morris and maybe Mrs Dale.
With a restriction on ovens we will be looking at a maximum of 18 students.
Minimal depending on what decorations they are using but will estimate around $20-$30.
