We believe in expanding students' experiences beyond the programmes provided in the classroom and for individuals to overcome personal challenges. This involves participation in year level camps and subject related excursions. Outdoor education is one of our vital links in meeting this goal and to build sustainability we have developed an excellent Year 12 and 13 programme for students to develop skills in outdoor activities and safety so they can assist as leaders for our younger students. Our student outdoor leaders always speak positively of the change it has made in their life and many take this subject to test their boundaries and to build confidence.
Education Outside The Classroom (EOTC) is the name given to all events/activities that occur outside the classroom, both on and off the school site. This includes sport. Here at Menzies College we use a range of environments and experiences to enhance our students’ learning. We feel that our students need to learn how to be safe and value the concept of providing students with a range of opportunities. Thus, some of the learning for students occurs beyond the school site and this document is seeking your consent for your child/ren to participate in such learning.
All new students to Menzies College have been given a blanket consent form to fill out and return to the school office. This is used to cover students participating in activities on school grounds and off-site short visits in the local community within school hours (horticulture, agriculture, adventure based learning, measuring in maths, museum, art gallery, sport events, cross-country training).
If you have any queries around this, please don’t hesitate to contact the school.
